Getting a dog is a bad idea. They are likely to injure or kill the squirrel. Also cat saliva maybe toxic to squirrels.

Chipmunks and squirrels need a constant supply of water. I place water dishes in all of my gardens. This reduces the them from chewing on vegetables and plants to obtain their water need.

Neighbors feed the birds and squirrels whole peanuts, seed and corn on the cob. The squirrels are now invading my yard. They have destroyed my vegetable garden and flower boxes. We even caught one eating our cedar deck! They have chewed up our grill cover, chewed through some cording for lighting. The birds route through my containers with their beaks. Not to mention bird poop every where. My black roof looks like terrible with all the bird poop everywhere. We had a bird expert come out and he stated that if they do not quit feeding the birds (specifically pigeons) we could have over 440 pigeons in the area by the end of next month. Us and the surrounding neighbors have asked them to stop feeding for just a while so everyone can get this under control. They responded by putting up an 8' privacy fence. I am beyond angry at this point.
